Introduction

LearnBME is a UC System wide (10 campuses) bioengineering thrust keeping in line with the mission of the Bioengineering Institute of California (BIC).

Objectives

To Build a UC System wide bioengineering network that;

  • creates a systemic methodology for sharing of educational materials.
  • identifies and highlights current individual and institutional research strengths.
  • promotes inter and cross campus collaboration.

Method

The LearnBME website will be publicly accessible at http://learnbme.ucsd.edu where content is driven by active sharing of course materials by contributing faculty.

Course Materials fall into the following broad categories;

  • Syllabus
  • Assignments
  • Case Studies
  • Lectures
  • Tests

Field of Study

All materials are further grouped by specific bioengineering fields to enable better content navigation;

  • Tissue Engineering
  • Biomechanics
  • Systems Biology
  • Bioengineering
  • etc...

Course Affiliations

Materials being provided will optionally be associated with a bioengineering course within the user's (uploader) home campus to allow for further specificity.

All uploaded content will be "tagged" with keywords using methodologies developed at Calit2 (Research Intelligence) making content easily searchable and navigable.
